Government Of India Has Made AC Cabins Compulsory

India’s Road Transport and Highways Ministry has announced that on or after
1st October 2025 , all the trucks that will be manufactured, must be equipped with AC (
AIR – CONDITIONERS ) for Driver’s Cabin .
The Notification regarding the same has been issued by the Department for the mandatory
changes .

“The vehicles manufactured on or after October 1, 2025, shall be fitted with an airconditioning system for the cabin of vehicles of N2 and N3 category,” the ministry has said
in a gazette notification. It added that the testing of the cabin with AC system shall be done
as per IS14618:2022.

The mandate follows comments from Union Road Transport and Highways Minister Nitin
Gadkari in July this year through a draft notification that mandates installation of AC
systems in truck cabins has been approved.
Nitin Gadkari has recently emphasised that there is a need to address issues related to
working conditions and state of mind of India truck drivers, who play a key role in India’s
transport sector. Nitin Gadkari has Highlighted that truck drivers are forced to work in
extreme heat conditions.
The Union Minister said that he has been pushing for AC cabins for truck drivers for a long
time even as “some people objected to it saying it will increase costs”.
As Transport and Logistics industry plays a vital role in the growth of India Economy .
Logistics Sector Contribute almost 14 % towards the Indian GDP .
And , 70 % Goods in India has been transported By road through Heavy and Medium Duty
Trucks .
The number of Medium and Heavy Duty Trucks will increase by 4 times upto 1.7 Crore by
2050 in India .
This Will also lead to increase the number of Accidents in India, Since , truck drivers has to
go through extreme weather conditions across India.
So for the sake of Drivers safety and Comfort the Government of India has made AC Cabins
Compulsory for the Trucks.
After this announcement, the stock price of the AC Manufacturing companies surged
between 17 to 50 % .This will Create Demand in the market for the Ac’s and Manufacturing
companies have to increase their production capacity to meet the requirements which will
also create additional jobs and revenue generation towards the Indian Economy
